EcoPlum Branches Out with Exclusive Fair Trade Jewelry Made from Tagua by Marcia Robbins, February 03 2015

New York, New York (PRWEB) February 03, 2015

Today EcoPlum, a sustainable e-commerce and media company, announced its exclusive distribution arrangement with Encanto Jewels for several lines of fair trade jewelry made from the South American tagua seed. The artisan-crafted, handmade fashion jewelry is available immediately in EcoPlum’s online boutique.

Encanto designs and manufactures original and very colorful jewelry from tagua, a sustainably-sourced seed originating in the rainforests of Colombia, Ecuador and Brazil. Tagua is known as “vegetable ivory” because of the shiny, hard and enduring quality of the seeds in their raw, ivory-colored state. Biodegradable, non-toxic and color-fast dyes are used to give the tagua a rich variety of hues.

Gia Machlin, CEO and Founder of EcoPlum, said: “Encanto’s tagua jewelry is spectacular in a painter’s palette of beautiful, rich color choices. We love Monica’s designs and the exclusive pieces we now have at EcoPlum. Personally, I receive compliments every time I wear my Aphrodite necklace and earrings!”

The exclusive designs for going forward include: Aphrodite necklaces and Aphrodite earrings; Antares necklaces; Athena earrings; and Saphi necklaces and earrings. EcoPlum also carries Semilla Infinity bracelets, Zora earrings and necklaces, and Athena necklaces. Most designs are available in a variety of colors, with names capturing their inspiration in nature, for example River Rock, Aqua, Sunset, and Pomegranate.

"I discovered tagua many years ago in my travels to the rainforests of Colombia, and fell in love with it immediately,” notes Monica Farbiarz, Owner and Creative Director of Encanto Jewels. “In collaboration with the workshop we have employed since the beginning, we are able to bring forth the transformative beauty of this seed into the form of high-quality, vibrant jewelry while doing business with sustainable and fair-trade practices at heart.”

Gia added: “We are so happy to align with Encanto, a company with a social conscience and environmentally friendly values like ours.”

Encanto is an eco-friendly company, based in California, specializing in the highest quality jewelry made from tagua, a seed from a palm-like tree growing in the rainforests of South America. Because the seed is harvested after it drops from the tree, tagua jewelry is sustainable and helps encourage the preservation of rainforest land. Their fair trade workshop in Colombia has over 30 years of experience working with tagua and creating good jobs for the community. Encanto became a member of the Fair Trade Federation in 2013 and a B-Corporation in 2014.
